The convenience of using a Soundproof Generator sound is something that must be considered. This article discusses: generator silencer, soundproof generator sound and the decibel scale of this generator.
According to the use of the generator set, it may be interesting or necessary to use a certain engine according to noise regulations by choosing a soundproof generator or according to the convenience of using a portable generator set or mobile generator set.
Generator sets are renowned for their power and ease of transport, making it very practical to harness high-performance energy in all occasions, even in the most remote of places. However, these devices can be very noisy, which could be a problem depending on your usage circumstances. Silent generator sets have appeared, with different technologies and powers. Find out the extent of the range of silent generator sets available in the market, and their various advantages.
Soundproof from generator
Generators used in urban areas that are close to homes become a noise nuisance, especially if they have a large displacement.
To limit the engine noise of the generator set, the silencer consists of encasing the entire engine and exhaust under a hood which is made soundproof thanks to soundproofing foam.
Soundproof generator sound
Between two generators of comparable power, with silencer or soundproof this generator will be a little more expensive to buy, but will provide a certain comfort of use and even safety for personnel working nearby.
The decibel scale of this generator
The soundproofing of the generator set is available as an option from 3 kW, then mandatory for high power and large engine displacements.
Particularly recommended for home generators operating in close proximity to homes and neighborhoods, soundproof generators are also frequently required as site generators used in urban areas in accordance with generator regulations.
Soundproofing is available on gasoline generators, diesel generators and gas generators.
How to make it Less Noisy?
The best technique is to apply several noise suppression methods at the same time. A generator will never be completely silent, but these tips can help you eliminate some of the nuisance.
1. Adjust the position of the muffler
Horizontally oriented exhaust pipes are the noisiest because the sound waves are going directly towards something. Naturally, generators come with instructions for placing the exhaust pipe away from the house or other buildings, but your neighbors at home or on the campsite might not appreciate it as much.
The solution is to direct the exhaust pipes upwards. The more upright stance means she’s not facing anything directly either.
2. Add silencers
Many portable generators already come with mufflers, but if you’re not happy with them, you can replace them. Contact customer service or the nearest hardware store to ask which mufflers would be most suitable.
3. The water bucket trick
This method does not require permanent adjustment but you modify its operation. This method channels exhaust noise into a bucket filled with water, the idea being that water is a sound insulator.
To make this work, connect a hose to the exhaust and drop the other end into a bucket full of water. Make a small hole where the hose reaches the top of the bucket to prevent water from entering the exhaust pipes or place the generator on a higher level.
Note that this only reduces noise from the exhaust pipes and does not reduce noise caused by vibrations.
4. Position it as far away as possible
It’s as simple as that. The further away it is, the less likely you are to hear it. So use longer hoses when possible.
5. Install sound deflectors
Sound deflectors are hard materials that cause sound waves to bounce off in another direction. In some cases they are used to create a more direct line towards you, but in this case you obviously want to install the deflectors so that they point away from your job site or home.
6. Install rubber on generator’s bottom
Some of the noise is simply from vibrations, so having the machine shake less can also lower the decibels. A simple rubber mat under the generator is already sufficient to reduce vibrations or buy a special anti-vibration mat.
You can also purchase rubber feet or wrap rubber around the bottom of the chassis. Make sure the material is heat resistant as these machines can get quite hot.
